Overview - General totals
These are the figures for HIV/AIDS cases REPORTED by doctors and city officialsfor the above three-month period. Newly-reported cases of AIDS: 77; of HIV:149.
OF THE 77 NEW AIDS CASES, ONLY TWO PEOPLE PREVIOUSLY KNEW THEY WERE INFECTED WITH HIV.
A breakdown of modes of infection is as follows (in numberof cases):

Numbers of cases of HIV transmission through unheated blood products are counted separately from totals.
